What was Dominic like?
Dominic was the light of my life from the time he was born. He was my youngest child and liked to torment his brother and sister by telling them he was my favorite. Even as a young child, his smile and twinkling blue eyes lit up the room and captured hearts. He loved so many different sports and stayed very active when he was in school.
Favorite memory of Dominic
My favorite memory of Dom happened more times than I can count, and sometimes it wasn’t always very convenient. I don’t know how many times he would tell me, “pull over mom” so he could give someone sleeping in a doorway or walking down a street pushing a shopping cart the food I had just bought him. He often rolled down the car window at a red light when he saw someone asking for money. He would strike up a conversation when they walked up to the car, ask them if they wanted a cigarette, light it for them, and give them the money he had in his wallet. I believe it was important to him to make sure people knew they were seen and valued.
What will be missed most about Dominic
There are so many, many things I miss. I miss hearing him call me Momma Bear, I miss his big bear hugs and I miss how protective he was of me. I miss his beautiful smile and the sparkle in his eyes.
How will Dominic like to be remembered?
I believe he wants to be remembered for how much he cared about his family and others. One of his favorite roles was being an uncle and he would play with his nephews until he was exhausted. They always wanted to have piggy back rides or have him carry them on his shoulders. He was a gentle and loving soul.
